On his 13th birthday, Ken received a Brownie Hawkeye camera, a film tank, contact printer, photo chemistry, paper and a lightproof room in the basement of his home in West Falls, NY. They were given to him by his father, an avid amateur photographer who studied under a professional in Buffalo. Photography has been a significant part of Ken’s life, ever since. Ken is self taught. In the 70’s, he and his wife, Karen owned and operated The Image Vault, a camera shop with a dark room and studio at Scottsdale Arizona’s Sundown Plaza, where he taught beginning classes in camera practice and darkroom procedure. Today, Ken’s pursuing the art and technique of digital photography. When Ken “gets lucky “as he puts it, he discovers subjects that reach out with a certain beauty or mystery he feels might draw others to them. Over the years he’s captured many images that he’s seldom shared, until now.
